Johore Zoo 29122008

"One of the oldest in the country. It was built in 1928 by Sultan Sir Ibrahim
and handed over to the state government to manage in the 1960s."
The Johor Bahru zoo is one of the oldest in the country. It was built in 1928
by Sultan Sir Ibrahim and was handed over to the state government to manage in
the 1960s and open to the public in 1962.
There are 100 species of animals in the 5ha compound. The entrance charge

is RM2 for adults and RM1 for children. The zoo opens daily from 8am to 6pm and is visited most during public holidays and school holidays.

My family and I had the chance (while we are staying in JB) to visit Johore Zoo last Monday. My son, Afwan was so excited that he was almost speechless every time we saw a new animal. My baby daughter was very cool, well that was what we assumed, as she was well-behaved and only made noise when she was hungry...

Being born in the year of the tiger, I was quite impressed with the number of tigers found here. If I'm not mistaken, there are 7 tigers altogether in 3 different cages. All are pur local tigers except two from Laos. I also noticed that these two are skinny compared to our local tigers..wonder if they miss their country of origin and don't have the appetite to eat!!! Kesian kan?

I think our kids had fun during the visit, especially Afwan... He kept on saying, "Nak zoo!", "nak zoo"....hehehe! And finally, before we went back "Nak man (Ultraman)". It was actually the aluminium-paper baloon in the shape of Ultraman...so we bought him that. He was so happy to have "man" taken home with him.

That's all....
